Engage Talent Partners are working on a retained basis with our client based in Aberdeen to recruit a Business Manager.
Our client is an established financial planning and advisory business who have experienced significant growth over the last few years.
This new role within the organisation reports to the Directors and will provide operational leadership, ensuring the business operates efficiently and compliantly, ensuring alignment of people, processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and support the effective integration of acquired businesses, ensuring alignment of people, processes, systems and controls in line with governance standards
• Act as the primary operational lead for the business, taking ownership of day-to-day operational management and allowing the Directors to focus on strategic, commercial and client-facing priorities
• Provide operational oversight and structured support to the companies three core functions: Advisers, New Business, Reviews
• Develop, implement and maintain robust operational processes, procedures and workflows that support regulatory compliance, operational efficiency and consistent outcomes across the business
• Establish, implement and manage departmental and business-wide KPIs, ensuring performance is clearly measured, monitored and reported
• Produce regular management information and performance reporting to support governance, decision-making and regulatory oversight
• Take ownership of people-related operational management by managing day-to-day staff issues in a fair, consistent, and compliant manner
• Conduct regular 1-to-1 meetings and performance check-ins, supporting staff performance management and capability issues
• Support HR and people processes, including onboarding, role clarity, policies and procedures, in line with regulatory and employment best practice
• Identify, assess and mitigate operational risks, escalating issues where appropriate and ensuring timely resolution
• Act as a key liaison between Directors, department leads and staff to ensure clear communication, accountability and adherence to agreed processes and standards
• Support business growth by ensuring operational structures, controls and resources remain appropriate, scalable and compliant as the firm continues to expand through acquisition and organic growth
The ideal candidate will have relevant industry experience within financial services or a regulated professional services environment. You will bring an enthusiastic, process-driven mindset with a strong focus on operational excellence, alongside excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify root causes and implement practical, effective solutions.
You will have proven experience in operational management, process improvement or business oversight, complemented by strong people-management and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to handle sensitive matters professionally. The role requires someone who can manage multiple priorities, remain effective in a growing and changing environment, and demonstrate a high level of organisation and planning capability. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
