Engage Talent Partners is exclusively supporting our client, a well-established offshore engineering and manufacturing business, to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer based in Aberdeen.
Our client designs and delivers engineered products for use in demanding offshore environments across the Oil & Gas and Offshore Renewables sectors. This role offers the opportunity to work on real offshore hardware, where hydrodynamic analysis directly informs mechanical design, from early concept through to manufacture and deployment.
As part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will be responsible for developing mechanical designs for offshore and subsea products and validating those designs using time-domain hydrodynamic analysis tools, with a strong emphasis on OrcaFlex (or equivalent software). You will work closely with project engineers, proposals, production and suppliers, supporting work from concept development through detailed design, analysis, documentation and manufacture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical offshore products from concept through to production
- Build, run and interpret hydrodynamic analysis models using OrcaFlex (or Flexcom)
- Use analysis results to inform and optimise mechanical design decisions
- Produce 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings
- Carry out engineering calculations and support structural assessment using FEA where required
- Prepare clear technical reports documenting analysis, assumptions and results
- Support proposals, bids and live projects, often to tight deadlines
- Work closely with production and suppliers to support manufacturability and resolve technical queries
- Contribute to the development and improvement of engineering standards, tools and processes
- Support and mentor junior engineers where appropriate
You will hold a degree or HND in Mechanical or Structural Engineering and have hands-on experience using OrcaFlex or Flexcom to analyse offshore systems such as moorings, cables, umbilicals, risers or subsea structures and understand how analysis results influence real-world design. Applicants will be comfortable producing CAD models and drawings (Inventor preferred, others considered), carrying out engineering calculations and contributing to technical reports and project deliverables.
If you are looking for a technically challenging design role where analysis genuinely drives engineering decisions and where your work results in products that are manufactured and deployed offshore in a growing business, please submit your CV for immediate review.
