Engage Talent Partners is exclusively supporting our client to recruit a Design Systems Engineer, based in Aberdeen.
Our client is a highly innovative technology company that has recently commercialised a cutting-edge robotics portfolio. This is a unique opportunity offering variety, autonomy and technical challenge within a fast-growing engineering environment.
This is a key interface role supporting a creative mechanical design team while ensuring products are correctly documented, controlled and released into real-world production. The successful candidate will act as the bridge between design, manufacturing and operations - ensuring design intent is accurately translated into build-ready documentation and managed through robust engineering change and release processes.
This is a hands-on, detail-focused opportunity for an engineer who understands how products move from prototype through approval, release and manufacture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review, update and maintain accurate 3D models and detailed 2D manufacturing and assembly drawings, ensuring they are complete, correct and ready for production.
- Act as the custodian of engineering documentation, ensuring general arrangements, BOMs and supporting information are accurate, current and correctly referenced.
- Manage CAD files and PDM/Vault systems to ensure engineering data is structured, version-controlled, traceable and accessible.
- Own engineering workflow and document control, supporting the smooth progression of work from design through review, approval and release.
- Administer and manage engineering change (ECN/ECO) processes, ensuring changes are documented, approved and implemented correctly.
- Work closely with manufacturing, suppliers and service teams to resolve design queries, clarify documentation and support production issues.
- Identify and implement improvements to engineering processes, CAD standards and data management workflows.
- Provide practical engineering support during assembly, installation and testing activities when required, supporting the transition from R&D into manufacturing.
You will hold a degree or HND in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Product Engineering and have experience working at the interface between design and manufacturing. You will have taken responsibility for drawings, documentation, CAD data control, BOMs and engineering change processes, rather than purely owning concept design. A solid understanding of manufacturing principles is essential, along with experience working with production, suppliers and service teams. You will be confident managing PDM/Vault systems, maintaining BOM accuracy, running ECNs and ensuring engineering data is controlled and production-ready. Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks is important; experience with basic analysis or validation work is beneficial but not essential.
If you are detail-focused, organised and naturally drawn to structure, process and seeing work completed correctly and are looking for a new challenge within an innovative engineering company, please submit your CV for immediate review.
