Engage Talent Partner are supporting our client to source and recruit a Production Engineer to join their engineering team based in Aberdeen.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager the role involves ensuring products are manufactured efficiently and to required quality standards, supporting the shop floor with any engineering responsibilities, and improving processes across the life cycle of projects and manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve manufacturing processes and methods.
- Provide technical support to production teams and day-to-day engineering support on the shop floor.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and technical documentation.
- Create, maintain and update manufacturing build instructions and shop floor documentation to ensure consistent and efficient production.
- Support the introduction of new products and processes into manufacturing.
- Maintain accurate production and engineering records.
- Participate in design and manufacturing reviews and provide input to improve product manufacturability.
- Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, reduce waste, minimise costs, and increase efficiency.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and the implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles where applicable.
- Investigate production issues and implement effective corrective and preventative actions.
- Identify and implement improvements to tooling, fixtures, jigging, and manufacturing methods to improve product quality, safety, and production efficiency.
- Conduct investigations into non-conformances, production issues, and process failures.
- Support incoming inspection activities.
- Review product designs and manufacturing requirements to identify potential production challenges.
- Assist with product testing, assembly, and validation activities as required.
- Identify and support the mitigation of manufacturing-related risks.
The ideal candidate will have past experience within a Product or Manufacturing Engineering role, a background of supporting shop floor activities, and knowledge of manufacturing processes and engineering drawings as essential. Further, strong problem solving and analytical skills, the ability to manage priorities to a deadline, and knowledge of health and safety requirements within a manufacturing environment would be beneficial though not essential.
