Engage Talent are partnering with an innovative engineering company in Aberdeen to recruit a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Machinery / Automation).
Our client is open to hybrid working however weekly visits in the Aberdeen site is essential. The business will also support sponsorship for the right candidate.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking team developing advanced machinery and automation systems for industrial production. As the company expands its engineering capabilities, they are seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to take ownership of critical design work, enhancing existing equipment and contributing to the development of new automated solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the mechanical design of automated equipment and machinery, including systems for handling, sorting and transporting products within production environments.
- Develop detailed 3D models, technical drawings and specifications using industry-standard CAD tools.
- Select, specify and source mechanical components and materials to meet operational, quality, and cost objectives.
- Maintain accurate Bills of Materials, design documentation, and assembly instructions throughout the product lifecycle.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including software, electrical and production engineers, to integrate mechanical systems into complete automation solutions.
- Support the prototyping, testing and refinement of machinery to validate performance and reliability.
- Contribute to both the development of new machinery and the optimisation of existing production systems.
The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or have equivalent industrial experience, with a proven background in mechanical design for industrial machinery, automation equipment or production systems. You should have strong knowledge of mechanisms, conveyors, material handling systems and design for manufacture principles. Proficiency in CAD software is essential, along with hands-on experience in prototyping, testing and problem-solving in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Beyond technical expertise, the ideal engineer will be a proactive self-starter who thrives on solving complex engineering challenges and bringing inventive ideas to the table. They will demonstrate excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills, be capable of managing multiple projects at once, and take ownership of design solutions that will have a direct impact on the company’s growth and future direction.
